→ Plix explores the concepts of dark UI, propaganda, and greenwashing. This project is an exploration of the decisions companies have historically made to trick the public.

Plix

Speculative design project based on UX research incorporating 3D design and prototyping.

Initial Research

🡮 The branding of Plix is a combination of the art of retro advertisements of regular people interacting with things like cigarettes and a new futuristic style using flashy colors and trendy shapes.

The goal for Plix (Plastic Mix) is to explore the concept of dark UI and propaganda. Ultimately, Plix is a speculative company that is advertising foods created with microplastics and marketing it much like the marketing strategies used by the tobacco industry.

We champion the global embrace of plastic as a responsible food source, setting a new standard in sustainability. We offer a diverse selection of food designed to appeal to individuals of all ages, ensuring a delightful and inclusive dining experience for everyone.

Our commitment is unwavering, utilizing only reusable plastics sourced from the ocean and esteemed recycling plants. Proudly, Plix stands as a beacon of environmental responsibility, ensuring 100% sustainability in every delicious bite.

Vision

We aim to normalize the consumption of plastic as a sustainable food source by promoting the benefits. Our food is a blend of microplastics and bio food so meals become cheaper, more sustainable, and more filling. Vitamins and nutrients can easily be added to our blend.

Mission Statement

3D Design

The 3D design of what we imagined the Plix products to look like was inspired largely by what actual microplastics look like. The sea-glass like pieces are polished smooth and round and are very appealing.

🡮 Pica is a relatively common disorder that causes craving and chewing substances that have no nutritional value, such as ice, clay, soil, or paper.

Prototyping

In order to convince an audience of the health and safety of Plix, we crafted an informational website with a ordering flow.

🡮 The Plix Home and About page are specially designed to address any concern or alarm that potential customers may have when considering incorporating microplastics into their diet.

🡮 The goal of the e-commerce section of the website is to expand on information found on Plix Foods packaging and give customers an easy way to purchase Plix Products without the hassle of visiting grocery stores in person.

Physical Design

Print design is the root of propoganda. We created flyers and advertisements promising the safety of Plix products as well as creating ads showing imagery of users interacting with the products.

🡮 Much of the info used for the informational flyers is based on actual research and fact, we simply twisted wording to make the consumptions of microplastics seem safe.
